Adopt a School

The initiative to support our local schools through the Lakeland Chamber of Commerce’s Reopen Task Force is in the very early stages, but we’re confident that the Lakeland community will show up in big ways!

At this time, the Mayor and members of the Task Force are requesting support from community and corporate sponsors who would like to “Adopt a School” to assist with the ongoing needs that have been outlined by Superintendent Byrd that the schools will need to keep the students, faculty and staff safe throughout the school year.

Community & Corporate Sponsorships will be a crucial component in getting this program off the ground, and we’re hoping to gain some quick momentum to help share this broadly throughout the city and get the word out quickly so that we can ensure the supplies can be ordered and available as needed.

Our initial goal will be to raise $5,000 for each of the 41 Lakeland area schools to keep the schools equipped with supplies like hand sanitizer, gloves, tissues, disinfectant, antibacterial soap, etc. do not fall in short supply.

Full Partners, donating $5,000 to support a school, will have the logo of their Company/Organization highlighted as a #LoveLakeland Reopen Lakeland Schools Community Partner on this page, and on the specific landing page for the school you choose to sponsor. Additional social media shout-outs from the #LoveLakeland, Lakeland Chamber of Commerce and Polk Schools social media channels will be shared to spread the #LoveLakeland and help others learn more about how they can lean in and support Lakeland’s students, teachers, and staff.

Individuals can also get involved by making donations to school(s) of their choice. Donations of any amount will be used to purchase items in bulk for those specific schools. All efforts will be made to provide equitable support to ALL of our Lakeland Schools, and therefore, school amounts will be capped at $5,000 until all schools are fully supported. Once a school reaches that cap, the options to support the campaign will be converted to the general fund, providing support to other schools across the city.
